The Arborist

My name is Tibor Seres. I was born and raised in Hungary and went to school for horticulture where I began my journey which eventually brought me to America. I landed in Ohio and worked for Holden Arboretum, it's also where I met my wife. We moved to Oregon in 2002 and I went to work for Morton Tree Service in the Portland area. I learned the practice of arboriculture and the importance of customer service. I also became certified with the ISA ( International Society of Arboriculture ) in 2003. With my mentor and friend Rick Serazin, we started Tsuga Gardens and Design, a landscape and tree service company in the Portland area. Over 10 years we built and maintained specialty gardens and took care of all aspects of them including the trees and hedges. This experience along with my background in horticulture allowed me to have a better understanding of the garden as a whole, and how trees and their needs fit into those landscapes. My wife and I with our two daughters had the opportunity to move to Hawai'i where my wife grew up. We chose the island of Kauai where I started The Passionate Gardener, which I successfully ran from 2014-2024. My focus was tree care for residential properties and some commercial resorts. I was also hired by the National Tropical Botanical Gardens as their contract arborist. Kaua'i is a beautiful place where I learned a whole new world of tropical trees and plants. Our family has recently returned to Oregon where our daughters are both attending college. My wife and I have settled in the charming town of Silverton. I'm excited for this next chapter and have started 'Silver Creek Tree Care'.
